RanksCORE is introducing CORE 5-Star 2026 — an assessment-led recognition programme created to identify and recognise companies, brands, projects, products and professionals demonstrating high standards of excellence across construction, real estate and the wider built environment.
While CORE 100 recognises the people making an impact, CORE 5-Star focuses on the standards being demonstrated across the industry.
The objective is straightforward:
To make five stars represent a standard of excellence.
What Is CORE 5-Star?
CORE 5-Star is not a traditional competitive award.
It is a recognition and rating programme built around defined assessment criteria relevant to different areas of the construction and real-estate ecosystem.
Rather than selecting one winner from a category, CORE 5-Star recognises organisations, projects, brands or professionals that meet the required standard within their respective areas.
This means more than one organisation may achieve a 5-Star Rating in the same category — but each must qualify independently.

How CORE 5-Star Works
Potential candidates are identified through a combination of industry research, market observation, nominations, publicly available information and information submitted directly for assessment.
The broad process follows:
Discovery → Preliminary Assessment → Evidence & Verification → Category Assessment → Review → Rating
Being nominated, researched or assessed does not guarantee a 5-Star Rating.
The standard must be demonstrated.
What We Assess
Assessment criteria vary according to the category.
A real-estate developer should not be assessed in exactly the same way as a construction company, architecture practice, building-material brand or PropTech business.
However, the wider CORE 5-Star framework considers areas such as:
Quality & Standards • Track Record • Project or Service Delivery • Reputation & Credibility • Customer/Client Experience • Innovation • Market Presence • Industry Impact • Sustainability & Responsible Practice
Specialist categories will place greater weight on criteria most relevant to their field.
For example, a Luxury Real Estate Developer may be assessed more heavily on architectural distinction, construction and finishing quality, location, design, amenities, exclusivity, customer experience and long-term value.
A Construction Company, meanwhile, may be assessed more heavily on project delivery, technical capability, construction quality, health and safety, quality management, project complexity, client confidence and track record.
The purpose is not to force every participant into the same assessment model.
It is to make the rating relevant to what they actually do.
What Five Stars Mean
A CORE 5-Star Rating indicates that the assessed organisation, project, brand, product or professional has demonstrated a high level of performance against the applicable CORE assessment framework.

A company may qualify for more than one designation where it independently meets the requirements of each category.
Rating, Not “Of the Year”
CORE 5-Star should not be confused with an annual competitive award.
A designation such as:
★★★★★ 5-Star Rated Construction Company — Nigeria 2026
means the company has met the applicable assessment standard.
It does not mean that CORE has declared it the single best construction company in Nigeria.
Competitive categories such as Developer of the Year, Construction Company of the Year or Project of the Year belong to a separate awards programme.
Keeping the two systems separate protects the meaning of the 5-Star Rating.
Recognition Is Not Purchased
Payment, advertising or sponsorship does not guarantee a CORE 5-Star Rating.
Organisations may be researched independently or submit information for consideration, but the rating decision is based on the applicable assessment process.
Following recognition, rated organisations may be offered optional commercial opportunities including physical recognition plaques, magazine packages, additional copies, extended editorial profiles, project showcases, advertising, digital visibility packages and recognition presentations.
These opportunities are separate from the rating decision.
Beyond the Badge
CORE 5-Star is intended to become more than a recognition graphic.
Rated organisations and projects will progressively form part of a searchable CORE 5-Star Registry, creating an annual record of recognised excellence across construction and real estate.
Selected rated organisations may also be documented through CORE Magazine, company profiles, project features, interviews, digital storytelling and industry recognition presentations.
As the programme develops, the aim is to build greater public and industry understanding around what each CORE 5-Star designation represents.
